Words

How we use them, feel them, and give them power

Do you ever think about words?

I mean really think about them.

Words are just that—words.
Sounds. Symbols. Combinations of letters.

And yet, we give them so much power.
We allow people to use words to make us feel small. Powerless. Less than.

But they’re still just words.

In one of my many rabbit holes, I started looking them up.
Their origins. Their meanings. Their original intent.
I got curious about whether the sayings I use—old words, old slang, familiar phrases—are even being used the way they were meant to be. Where did they come from? Why did they stick? And how did so many of them morph into something entirely different over time?

I do believe words carry power.
But I think the real power lives in how we let them be absorbed and consumed.

Words don’t act alone.
They’re delivered. Received. Interpreted.
And really... words can be fun.
They can soften moments. Break tension. Invite connection. Share a laugh.
Even in serious situations, the right word - or the right phrase - can change the entire temperature of a room.
In the end, it all comes down to intent.
How they’re used.

And ... how we choose to hold them.
